Our 1-1/8″ and 2-1/8″ C-SIS insulated sheathing offers a quick alternative to conventional plywood or OSB sheathing for conventionally framed wood or metal structures. The 1-1/8″ thick sheathing provides a nominal insulating value of R-6, which when added to a traditionally framed 2 x 4 wall with R-15 batt insulation, achieves an R-21 wall without the added expense of 6″ stud framing. The 2-1/8″ C-SIS sheathing provides an insulating value of R-12 so when coupled with conventional framing and insulation, it is easy to achieve an R-27 wall.
C-SIS sheathing with its fiberglass reinforced thermoset composite skin and closed cell polyurethane insulation not only provides superior insulation performance but is a multi-tasking product by including a Grade-A water resistance barrier, a vapor retarder, air barrier and structural sheathing. C-SIS sheathing is manufactured without adhesives; the sheathing FRT skin is bonded by a chemical reaction to the polyurethane foam insulation during manufacturing so the risk of delamination is eliminated.
Structural Insulated Exterior Sheathing
C-SIS sheathing may be applied with either a standard drywall screw gun on metal studs or wood framing. They go up quickly and can be easily field cut to adapt to various shapes and angles. Best of all, they are waterproof and eliminate the moisture retention problems of conventional sheathing. That means no more mold or mildew from the sheathing. Finishing is easy—for masonry or siding, just screw in the masonry anchors or siding through the sheathing to the studs.
